Fascinated with art, science, and history, Ector Mojica found architecture to be the perfect career to blend all of these interests. He received his Bachelor of Architecture degree at the California Polytechnic State University and became a licensed architect in 2009. An intentional listener, life-long learner, with a ready smile and positive energy, Ector joined QKA in 2023 as a Studio Lead in our Oakland office, bringing with him over 20 years of architecture experience – the majority of it working with educational clients. Ector is honored to team up with educators whose main goal is to improve the lives of students. With a passion for educational architecture, he relates to educators’ hope and optimism, understanding that hard work can result in transformational outcomes.

Although Ector is skilled at designing beautiful learning environments, his true gift is collaborating and engaging with clients and stakeholders to determine the needs and big picture goals of a project and working together to find the best solutions. It is these relationships that lead to great outcomes in design, efficiency, and the functionality of a project. Ector is also passionate about mentorship, having been a NCARB mentor for licensure candidates as well as for students of the Coalition for Adequate School Housing (CASH) Leadership Academy.

A first-generation American with Spanish as his second language, Ector appreciates the Bay Area for its diversity in culture, food and social experiences. Outside of work, Ector enjoys wood working, gardening, learning about and exploring new places and local architectural sites, and seeking out delicious food and live music.
