Cardinal Newman High School

New Student Life Center

Santa Rosa, CA

The latest addition to ongoing campus rebuilding efforts, Cardinal Newman High School’s Student Life Center replaces the campus library and media center destroyed in a 2017 wildfire and introduces additional spaces to meet the evolving needs of its student body. The two-story building includes a newly resourced Academic Library and high-tech Innovation Center that also includes a student lounge, cafeteria and commercial kitchen, faculty offices, conference rooms, group study areas, digital media lab spaces and a recording studio. Flexible classrooms and seating arrangements were incorporated throughout to cater to varied learning styles and needs. Designed to mimic a modern college student union, the Student Life Center will accommodate individual and group study work, dining services and serve as a comfortable place for students to utilize before and after school hours.

The project features energy efficient lighting and mechanical systems, low flow plumbing fixtures, drought tolerant landscaping, bioswales and operable windows for natural ventilation.
