Arroyo School

Campus Modernization
& New Learning Commons

San Carlos, CA

QKA remodeled 40,000 square feet of the neighboring Central Middle School into Arroyo School, a bridge school for grades 4-5. The existing classrooms were modernized with updated technology and 21st century features, including flexible operable partitions between classrooms.

In addition, QKA designed a new Learning Commons that houses several new classrooms and small group instruction spaces. This building encloses a central courtyard that offers opportunities for outdoor learning.

Making a Difference
Essentially providing a new elementary school space for the District, fourth and fifth graders now have dedicated, modern and flexible learning environments of their own.
"I could not have been more pleased to work with QKA on the re-design of this school and creating 21st Century learning environments that were aligned to our Strategic Plan. QKA completely understood and even enhanced our views of such learning environments. They listened, advised, and designed to perfection! And all along the way they engaged with the District and contractors as true partners."
