Davidson Middle School
New Two-Story STEM Building
Davidson Middle School’s new STEM Building is an integrated hub for the school’s forward-thinking science and math disciplines. Designed to accommodate rapid enrollment growth, the modern and flexible two-story modular building includes ten science labs, six prep rooms, restrooms, an electrical and mechanical room, science courtyard and outdoor classroom spaces. The consolidated space accomplishes the District’s desire for increased opportunity for students and teachers to work, learn and share ideas collaboratively.
The building itself serves as a teaching mechanism with exposed structural, mechanical and electrical components where appropriate, promoting student interest in design and building. The facility includes abundant natural lighting and access to fresh air, energy-efficient lighting and mechanical systems, low-flow plumbing systems and drought tolerant landscaping, prioritizing sustainability and occupant wellness. Utilizing an efficient modular design, the project team was able to deliver the project within a tight budget and small site.
