New STEM Center

San Marin High School’s new Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Center is a modern facility to match its robust curriculum and programming.

The STEM Center replaces four portable classrooms with 10 new classroom and laboratory spaces, including a positive pressure clean room. Designed for collaborative learning, the STEM Center also provides indoor and outdoor student break-out spaces, demonstration areas and staff support space. The new facility is home to STEM Marin, the school’s magnet science program with tracks for engineering, biotechnology and comprehensive studies.

The new building is solar ready and incorporates many sustainable features, including natural daylighting and ventilation, low-flow plumbing fixtures, energy efficient lighting and mechanical systems, as well as drought tolerant landscaping.

Making a Difference

Replacing outdated and ill-fitting spaces, San Marin High School’s many students interested in pursuing science studies now have dedicated and innovative facilities to do so, including for engineering and biotechnology.

"The project began with a simple goal to replace the aging portables with a properly-sized classroom building that could house all of our STEM program under one roof. However, with QKA’s collaborative work process and thoughtful design, we ended up with much more. This beautiful facility is flooded with natural light and provides lab/lecture rooms that open up for shared learning, student and staff collaborative areas throughout the building, outdoor learning areas, and specially designed labs and workrooms to support our growing Bio-Technology program."
