Firm Also Announces Two Newly Licensed Architects
Oakland / Santa Rosa, Calif., March 25, 2024 – Quattrocchi Kwok Architects (QKA), a leading planning and design firm serving Northern California’s education industry, announces four new hires to its Oakland office, including Studio Lead Ector Mojica. To accommodate this growth, the firm will be renovating and expanding its current space in Jack London Square. Additionally, Project Architects Chris Cundall and Alexa Riner have recently earned the distinction of licensed architect, with Riner stepping into the role of sustainability and change management lead.
Mojica has more than twenty years of architectural experience, the majority of which has been spent working with educational clients. Joining QKA from PBK Architects, he is not only skilled at designing beautiful learning environments but excels in collaborating and engaging with clients and stakeholders to determine the needs and big picture goals of a project, working together to find the best solutions. His work has spanned modernization and new construction projects at various Bay Area school districts. As Studio Lead, Mojica will help lead QKA’s East Bay office of nearly 20 employees, which was established in 2017 to better serve its many clients in the region.
“At QKA we continually strive to ensure we are providing intentional design that improves the student experience. Ector embodies this ethos, blending expertise, creativity and a passion for education, and he is highly capable of helping to lead our busy and growing Oakland team,” said QKA President Aaron Jobson. “We look forward to welcoming clients and partners into our expanded space later this year.”
Along with Mojica, Elias Vasquez and Elizabeth Watt have also joined QKA from PBK as project designer and job captain, respectively. Both have worked on a variety of education projects throughout the Bay Area and are well-versed in coordinating with clients and project team members through all phases of design and construction. QKA has also recently brought on a new BIM manager to its Oakland office, strengthening capabilities across the firm.
Based in QKA’s Santa Rosa headquarters office, Cundall and Riner will oversee a variety of education design projects, building on their client engagement and project delivery skill sets. As sustainability and change management lead, Riner will spearhead initiatives to enhance firmwide work efficiency and ensure all projects effectively address carbon impacts. This includes improvements to QKA’s resource library, task management processes, role and responsibility definitions, and mentoring and onboarding processes, as well as providing sustainability reviews and guidance.
“We’re thrilled to celebrate our growing team, from new hires to licensing accomplishments, and the expanded strengths and services this brings to our clients and communities,” continued Jobson.
