Cardinal Newman High School
Diocese of Santa Rosa
Santa Rosa, Calif.
- Number of Schools: 1
- Completion Date: November 2018
Approximately half of the campus of the private Catholic Cardinal Newman High School was destroyed by the devastating Tubbs wildfire in October 2017. While a tremendous loss, the Diocese of Santa Rosa sought to use this opportunity to rebuild a campus that would truly deliver a first-class college preparatory education by meeting all of their educational, spiritual, and athletic needs. The Diocese did not want to simply rebuild the same structures that were lost, but instead, design a new campus that would address any current facilities shortcomings.
With feedback from the administration and community, QKA developed a complete Facilities Master Plan that would guide the rebuilding of the campus over the next 20 years. The new campus design will accommodate 650 students plus room for growth, increase teaching spaces so that a classroom never has more than 25 students, reinforce Catholic identity by placing religious icons throughout the campus and building a larger chapel in a more prominent location, and add a new main entrance, second gymnasium, synthetic turf field, Performing Arts Center, Student Union, and a variety of outdoor gathering spaces.
