The Novato Unified School District is excited to announce a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Performing Arts Center and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Center at San Marin High School on Wednesday, June 19, at 2 pm. The event will take place behind the Emily Gates Student Center. The new buildings were designed by Quattrocchi Kwok Architects (QKA) and will be built by BHM Construction, Inc.

Opening early in 2021, the new 225-seat 8,400 sq. ft. Performing Arts Center includes classroom support spaces/greenroom, lobby, ticket booth and restrooms, as well as state-of-the-art equipment to support the Performing Arts program. The new modern facility will replace a multi-use building where performances are currently held.

The new 18,000 sq. ft. STEM Center will house 10 classroom/laboratories, student break-out spaces, demonstration areas and staff support space. The building, scheduled to open fall 2020, will support San Marin’s STEM program, including two dedicated Biotechnology classroom/labs.

Both new buildings were designed solar ready and with sustainability in mind, including natural daylighting and ventilation, low-flow plumbing fixtures, energy efficient lighting and mechanical systems.

NUSD would like to thank the voters and community of Novato for their generous support of Measure G and our schools. The Measure G $222 million bond was passed by Novato voters in November 2016 to upgrade aging classrooms and facilities to meet current academic and safety standards.

The community is invited to attend.
